Geocoins
Geocoins
are used for Geocaching, a GPS based treasure hunt. Cachers search the
Caches (typically plastic containers or old ammunition boxes) hidden by
other players. The caches contain trade items, like little toys. To make the
contents more attractive, some Geocachers introduced team coins used as
"signature items". They left them in caches the likes to state "I was here".
Since summer 2005 the owners of the Geocaching web pages allow that these
coins are "trackable". Each coin gets an individual tracking number and
players can log the coin while carrying it from cache to cache.
For Geocachers we offer the following services:
- Organizing the tracking codes
- Putting the „Activation Codes“ on our web pages
- Using an existing Geocaching die for the back side of the Geocoin to
save costs
- Optional: organizing re-sales through our stores
The current rules for trackable Geocoins are: Minimum mintage of 250
pieces,
the design must be approved by Groundspeak. Groundspeak primarily wathces
out that the Geocaching logo is used correctly (if used). |
